Choosing a home health care agency is one of the most important decisions a family can make.

1. Is the agency licensed, bonded, and insured in Colorado?

Colorado requires home care agencies to hold a state license, and licensure protects your family if something goes wrong. Ask for the agency's license number and confirm they carry both bonding and liability insurance for every caregiver.

2. Are caregivers employees or independent contractors?

Agency employees are covered by the agency's insurance, taxes, and supervision; independent contractors often are not. Employee-based models generally mean more accountability and less liability for your family.

3. How are caregivers screened, trained, and supervised?

Ask about background checks, reference verification, and required certifications before a caregiver enters a home. Then ask how often a supervisor actually observes care in person.

4. What happens if my regular caregiver is sick or unavailable?

A reliable agency has trained backup caregivers who can step in the same day. Ask how substitutes are briefed on the existing care plan so continuity is never lost.

5. Does a Registered Nurse supervise all care plans?

Nurse oversight is what separates professional home health care from informal help. At MediGuard, every care plan is developed and supervised by a Registered Nurse and reviewed as a client's needs change.
